Wives and Daughters

Wives and Daughters is a 1999 four part BBC serial adapted from the novel Wives and Daughters: An Every Day Story by author Elizabeth Gaskell. It focuses on Molly Gibson (Justine Waddell), the girl of the town physician, and the changes which happen in her life after her father chooses to remarry. The union brings into her once-quiet life an ever-proper step-mother (Francesca Annis) and flirtatious step sister, Cynthia (Keeley Hawes), while a friendship with all the community squire brings about an unexpected romance.
