WCW Monday Nitro
WCW Monday Nitro Has Been a professional wrestling telecast by World Championship Wrestling, created by Ted Turner and Eric Bischoff produced. The show aired on TNT, going headtohead with the World Wrestling Federation's Monday Night Raw from September 4, 1995. Production stopped after WCW was purchased by the WWF.
The debut of Nitro began a ratings battle between the WWF and WCW that lasted for six years and watched every company hotel to cut throat tactics to use to compete with the competition, the Monday Night Wars. In mid-1996, Nitro began to draw better evaluations based on the strength of their nWo storyline, an anarchist wrestling stable that wanted to take over WCW. Nitro continued to conquer for 84 consecutive weeks, forcing WWE owner Vince McMahon to improve the way he did business. Fan interest in the storyline waned Since the nWo storyline increased stagnant, and Raw began to edge Nitro in the evaluations out.
The turning point for those organizations came throughout the January 4, 1999 broadcast of Nitro, throughout which lead commentator Tony Schiavone gave the results of matches away for the tight broadcast of that night. Nitro was live and as Raw was recorded, Bischoff felt that knowing the results will discourage viewers from watching the program. Inspired by the prospect of visiting WWF that was perennial underdog the WWF Championship is won by Mick Foley, channels to see Raw shifted, after the name was won by Foley, switching back to Nitro. From that week forward, Raw beat Nitro with a considerable amount in the ratings, and WCW was never able to recover the victory had.
