Wagon Train
Wagon Train can be an American series which ran from 1957 -- 62 after which on ABC on NBC from 1962--65, even though repeats that are daylight aired, as Trailmaster, Trailmaster and Major Adams , by January 1963 to September 1965. The series appeared at no 1 at the 1961 -- 62 tv season, rose to number 2 also debuted at # 15 in the Nielsen ratings. After moving to ABC in the autumn of 1962, the ratings began to diminish, and Wagon Train didn't again make the Top 20 record.
The series starred movie that was veteran after Horton had made a decision to leave the series because the wagon master, later substituted upon his own departure by John McIntire, and Robert Horton since the scout substituted by lookalike Robert Fuller supporting actor Ward Bond.
The series had been inspired by the 1950 film Wagon Master directed by John Ford and starring Ben Johnson, Harry Carey Jr. and Ward Bond, and harkens back to early wide-screen wagon train epic The Large Course starring John Wayne and incorporating Bond in his first major screen appearance playing a supporting character. Horton's buckskin outfit since the scout from the tv series' first season looks Wayne's, who played with the scout of the wagon train in the film that is earlier.
