Timm Thaler

Timm Thaler is just a 1979 children's television mini series based on the 1962 children's book by German writer James Krüss. The show originally aired as the Christmas show on German federal broadcaster ZDF in Germany. For transmission from the United Kingdom, the show was acquired in 1988 by the BBC. The English model was produced by Angela Beeching, using script by Nel Romano, and retitled The Legend of Tim Tyler. It aired during Children's BBC. The screenplay was published by Justus Pfaue and Peter M. Thouet and differs notably from the first book. Directed by Sigi Rothemund, the show made Tommi Ohrner, at Timm Thaler's lead character, a teen idol of the era and became a winner in Germany. The Part of this Bar on was performed with Horst Frank.
