The Winds of War

The Winds of War is really just a 1983 mini series that follows the publication of the identical name by Herman Wouk. As in the publication, in addition to the lifestyles of their Henry and Jastrow families time in the mini series is devoted to this period's worldwide events. Adolf Hitler and the German staff with the false general von Roon being being a major personality is a sub plot of this mini series. Winds of War includes segments of documentary footage created by William Woodson to spell out key events and characters that are important. As stated by the DVD-featurette"From Book to Video," The Winds of War became a television success, and a US national television event as never seen previously. A sequel War and Remembrance at 1988 followed closely it.
