The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis
The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis is an American sitcom that aired on CBS from 1959 to 1963. The show and lots of episode scripts were adapted from a 1951 set of short stories of the same name, written by Max Shulman, who had written a feature film adaptation of his short stories at 1953 for MGM, The Affairs of Dobie Gillis.
The show revolved around the life span of both teenager/young adult Dobie Gillis, who, together with his own very best friend, beatnik Maynard G. Krebs, struggles against the forces of his lifetime - senior high school, the military, faculty, and his parents - because he aspires to attain both wealth and dates with girls. The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis was created by Martin Manulis Productions in association with 20th Century Fox Television. The theme song was also written by creator Shulman in cooperation with Lionel Newman.
