Press Your Luck
Press Your Luck is an American tv day game series created Jan McCormack and by Bill Carruthers. It premiered on September 19, 1983, on CBS and stopped September 26, 1986. In the series, contestants accumulated spins by answering trivia questions and employed the spins on an game board to win prizes and cash. The individual who amassed the maximum in cash and prizes at the end of the game won. Peter Tomarken was the host of the show, and Rod Roddy was the announcer. Charlie O'Donnell and john Harlan full of as substitute announcers to get Roddy. Press Your Luck was videotaped before a studio audience in Studios 33 and 43, in CBS Television City in Hollywood, California. The series turned into a revival of Second Chance, which aired on ABC and was hosted by Jim Peck.
The series was known for the"Whammy" --a red animation creature wearing a cape. Landing on some one of the Whammy's distances on the gameboard took away the contestant's money, accompanied by an animation which will demonstrate the Whammy carrying the loot, but being chased off, dismissed, or otherwise humiliated in the procedure. Savage Steve Holland and Bill Kopp created and revived the Whammies, and voiced by Carruthers. Approximately 50 cartoons were used.
