The planet contains 2 parts: far coast and the near coast. The close coast is where folks dwell, whilst the coast is the location for ayakashi and deities, which might be emotional fragments that lead to problem and could exude individuals. Therefore it's just a deity's responsibility to clear away those ayakashi with the help of weapons called Shinki from the near coast. Yato is really just a little deity of war without shrine. With all his Shinki, Tomone, he runs on the Delivery Wish Granting Service, granting wishes for just 5 yen. He decides to run simple errands that don't involve matters that are ayakashi-related after his Shinki leaves him on less than agreeable terms. According to a mission to find a lost kitten, a bus nearly hits him, but saved by a lady named Iki Hiyori. Hiyori dies for a moment, but then comes home again to life. This causes Hiyori's soul to become unstable, leaving her human body. So by offering 5 yen, she asks Yato to repair her human body... but Yato cannot help with out a Shinki, so Hiyori accompanies him on his journey to locate one, from the hopes to become regular. But behind Yato's kindhearted face establishes a twisted last...
