Meerkat Manor
Meerkat Manor is actually a television program produced by Oxford Scientific Films for Animal Planet International that ran for four series till its blackout in August 2008 and premiered in September 2005. Blending more traditional creature documentary style footage using magnificent narration, the show told the story of the Whiskers, more than a dozen families of meerkats in the Kalahari Desert being studied as part of the Kalahari Meerkat Project, a longterm field study in to the ecological causes and evolutionary consequences of the combined character of meerkats. Bill Nighy narrated the original programme, using the narration redubbed Sean Astin for its American broadcasts and also by Mike Goldman for its Australian airings. The fourth show saw Stockard Channing substituting Astin as the narrator from the American dubbing.
