Maverick
Maverick is a Western tv set with comedic overtones created by Roy Huggins. The series stars James Garner as Bret Maverick, an adroitly cardsharp and ran from September 22, 1957 on July 8, 1962 on ABC. Six episodes into the season, he had been joined by Jack Kelly along with his brother Bart, and by that point on, Kelly and Garner alternated directs from week to week, sometimes teaming up for the occasional episode. The Mavericks were poker players from Texas who traveled about Mississippi riverboats over the American Old West and , always getting into and out of life-threatening trouble of one form or another, usually involving women, money, or even both. They'd typically find themselves weighing a economic windfall. Since both Mavericks were ethical, more frequently than not, their own consciences trumped their pockets.
Roger Moore was inserted into the throw as his cousin Beau Maverick, when Garner left the series after the season due to a legal dispute. Robert Colbert appeared as a third Maverick brother, Brent Maverick in the fourth season. No more than two of the series leads ever appeared together at the same episode, and usually only one.
