Countdown with Keith Olbermann

Countdown with Keith Olbermann has been an hour long week night political and news opinion program hosted by Keith Olbermann which aired on MSNBC from 2011-2012 by Current television and 2003-2011. The show exhibited five news reports of the afternoon, with interviews of guests and commentary by Olbermann. At the start of Countdown, Olbermann told television columnist Lisa de Moraes: "Our charge to the future would be to keep out of the way of the news.... News is that news headlines. We will not be screwing around with this.... As times improve and also the war [in Iraq] endings we will begin to introduce more and more elements familiar to my personality ." The show was known for historical and pop culture references Olbermann rhetoric, and comment. Olbermann melded news reports, both light and deep, with commentary critical to conservative politics and Republicans. The show has become the foundation of controversy due to such criticisms, as well as the host commentary against Fox News and his feud with its leading personality, Bill O'Reilly. During the January 2 1, 2011, variant of Countdown, Olbermann announced that it would be his final appearance on the show, but gave no explanation why. The New York Times reported the next day which Olbermann had negotiated his exit with a secret deal , from MSNBC. After being hired by Current television, Olbermann announced on April 26, 2011, June 20, 2011, that his nightly news program over the network would begin, and might be called Countdown with Keith Olbermann. Current television terminated its association and substituted his show with a program hosted.
