City of Men

City of Men is a Brazilian Tv Program created by Kátia Lund and Fernando Meirelles, the film City of God's directors. 35 million audiences in Brazil watched the show and was released globally right after the film. A feature length film based on the show was released. It's often mentioned as a'spin-off' of the movie. City of Men is just a more light-hearted and somewhat more violent affair together with elements that are dramedy. Nevertheless, the two do share some traditional aspects: the supervisors, some of the celebrities, and also the setting of the Brazilian favela with its background of gangsters and also poverty. The program tells the stories of Luis Claudío and Uolace, better known by their nicknames Acerola and Laranjinha, respectively, that are just two close friends who live in a notorious Rio slum, in a residential area of drugdealers, hustlers, along with teenagers fighting to fulfill their own dreams.
