Central Park West

Central Park West is an American prime time television soap opera that ran from September 1995 to June 1996 on CBS. The series was created and executive produced by Melrose Place's Darren Star. As the name indicates, CPW was place at the wealthy Central Park West region of Manhattan, in the Big Apple. Lauren Hutton actresses Mariel Hemingway, along with Raquel Welch portrayed three of the fundamental characters on the show. This app represented the effort to reestablish itself after having a devastating 1994-95 television season by which the network lost a heavy amount of affiliates that were established due to affiliation switches related to Fox acquiring NFC football rights, also an attempt by the network to bring in audiences of CBS. It had been the network's show in years with a promotional campaign produced to appeal to younger audiences, and tried to recreate the previous night soap glory by Dallas and Knots Landing's years of the network. The series was not successful and has been taken from CBS' schedule mid-season, returning a few months after new additions. The re-tooling was perhaps not enough to rescue. The failure of the series came back the network immediately back with their traditional broadcasting attention and also repairing connections between both network's new affiliates along with their elderly channels that were frustrated by the system's moves in programming rights and programming over the Laurence Tisch age, which would wind shortly thereafter with Westinghouse's order of CBS Corporation at 1995.
