Amerika

Amerika -- suggesting a Russified name for its United States -- is an American television miniseries which has been broadcast on ABC in 1987. A novelization entitled Amerika: The Triumph of the Spirit was motivated by the miniseries. Amerika starred Kris Kristofferson, Mariel Hemingway, Sam Neill, Robert Urich, and also a 17-year-old Lara Flynn Boyle in her first Big role. Amerika was following a takeover about lifestyle at the USA. Maybe not needing to portray the take over, ABC Entertainment president Brandon Stoddard set the mini series ten years after the event, emphasizing the American public that were demoralized 10 years following the Soviet conquest. The intent was to explore the soul never to spell out the coup's battle. Described in promotional materials as"probably the toughest American miniseries ever generated," Amerika aired for 141/2 hours over seven nights, and allegedly cost US$40 million to produce. The miniseries was filmed in Toronto, London, Ontario, along with Hamilton, Ontario, as well as various locations in Nebraska -- most notably the little town of Tecumseh, that functioned as"Milford," the literary setting for a lot of the set. Donald Wrye has been the executive producer, director, and writer of Amerika, while composer Basil Poledouris watched the miniseries.
