Alfresco

Alfresco is a British comedy television series starring Siobhan Redmond, Ben Elton, Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, Robbie Coltrane and Emma Thompson, broadcast by May 1983 to June 1984 and produced by Granada Television. Running for just 2 string, it totalled 1-3 episodes and has been called al fresco because, unusually for a comedy sketch series of the moment, it was shot on location rather than at a studio. The programme is just actually a sketch series that was scheduled as an response to the BBC's highly powerful Not the Nine O'Clock News. The writer was Ben Elton, together with Fry and Laurie receiving writing credits by the series. Of the team, Tony Slattery was designed to combine the cast for the pilot! In 1982, but accepted an offer from Chris Tarrant to combine Saturday Stayback, his follow up to O.T.T. After There Is Nothing To Worry About! , that featured Paul, Fry, Laurie, Redmond, Thompson and Elton Shearer and has been shown in the Granada region just, a first collection of Alfresco has been commissioned, broadcast and replacing Shearer together with Robbie Coltrane. The next of the seven transmitted episodes in 1983 was infact a compilation series of the pilot collection, including some stuff.
