The Revolt of Mamie Stover

Set in the early '40s, a San Francisco woman of the street is run out of town just as the second World War has started to escalate. Mamie calms down in Hawaii, wanting to begin a new life. Though her prospects look good when she falls in love with a science-fiction writer who treats her with the regard she is worthy of, the dawning battle as well as the fallacies of her previous lifestyle complicate their budding love. Mamie can not fully eliminate herself from her former career, and offers some of her old solutions to the seafarers based in town.
