Perhaps one of the most popular saints of alltime, St. Philip Neri was widely known for his great charity, profound prayer life, and enormous humor. Expecting to join St. Ignatius of Loyola's new arrangement of Jesuits and be described as a missionary to India, Philip was as an alternative directed by Providence to search the poor and abandoned youth of Rome to catechize them at the faith and help them find a better life. He became the creator of their religious leader, the Oratory, that labored to re-evangelize a decadent Rome and worked with the youth.
