Rule Number One

Following a shootout, rookie Sergeant Lee is hurt and sent to the suspicious-sounding Miscellaneous Affairs Department (MAD). He is placed with Inspector Wong there, a cynical and inebriated veteran who explains that MAD's job is to respond to otherworldly calls. There are no ghosts, according to Wong, which is MAD's first rule. Every event that appears to defy scientific and rational explanation has a matching rational and scientific explanation.
