Mister Ed

Mister Ed is a American television situation comedy produced by Filmways that aired in syndication in January 5 to July 2, 1961, and then on CBS in October 1, 1961, to February 6, 1966. The show's title character is a fictional talking horse, originally appearing in short stories by Walter R. Brooks. The stars of this show were Mister Ed, a palomino horse who would"talk", played by gelding Bamboo Harvester and voiced by former Western star Allan Lane, along with his owner, an eccentric and hugely klutzy, yet friendly, architect called Wilbur Post. Much of the humor of this program stemmed from the truth that Mister Ed would speak simply as a trouble maker to Wilbur, as well as Ed's notoriety. Other jokes centered being a klutz and inadvertently causing harm. As stated by the show's producer, Arthur Lubin,'' Young was chosen since the lead character because he"simply looked like the sort of guy that a horse could talk to". A good close friend of Mae West, lubin, scored a coup by persuading the screen icon to guest star in one episode. In March 3, 1986, to February 1, 1993, reruns aired on Nick in the United States. Sister channel television Land reran the show out of 1996--in 98 and again 2003-06. The show is currently broadcast on this particular TV, along with Highway Patrol, and The Patty Duke Show. It is currently broadcast on Hallmark Movie Channel. As of January 1, 2011, this show's very first two seasons are available on Hulu.
